obsessiveness...better or worse than addiction?

obsessed - to occupy the mind excessively.

addicted - to occupy with or involve in something habitually or compulsively.

i guess neither one is a choice. maybe obsessiveness leads to addiction. but people can be obsessed with people, so can they be addicted to people? someone should do a study.
